The H2O4Gaza Initiative, spearheaded by a diverse group of humanists and supported by a global community, was launched on February 14, 2024, as an urgent call to improve access to drinkable water in Gaza.

With the petition aimed at the Israeli Government, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the international community, our campaign seeks to address the most pressing humanitarian need in Gaza—access to clean, safe water.

Our Plea

We urge the Israeli government to maximize the capacity of its water supply facilities and support the reconstruction of desalination plants in Gaza. This critical action is necessary to prevent further loss of lives and the spread of diseases, as the majority of Gaza's population is currently without access to adequate potable water, exacerbating a public health emergency.

Background

Following the destruction of water infrastructure due to conflict, over 2 million residents face a severe crisis with soaring risks of waterborne diseases. The blockade has severely restricted essential supplies, making the situation dire.

Our focused strategy advocates for increased water supply throughput and the establishment of new emergency desalination plants, ensuring all efforts are for the peaceful provision of fresh drinking water. We are committed to transparency and welcome third-party inspections to guarantee the peaceful use of these facilities.
